2nd Street - PCH Project Rendering

Business Wire reports:  A citywide survey, conducted by Goodwin Simon Strategic Research, shows 62 percent of Long Beach voters favor the proposed mixed-use redevelopment of the Seaport Marina Hotel. Responses just from voters in Council District 3 (CD3), where the hotel is located, hold at approximately two to one in favor, based on what they have already heard about the project, and support rises even higher once they hear the project will include a mix of shops, restaurants, open space, arts and recreation amenities, a boutique hotel and residences.  Click here for the complete story.

Over 100 Naples neighbors attended the quarterly meeting.  Some highlights were:

  • City Budget deficit is $18.5 million
  • Marijuana Dispensaries- The victim of the recent shooting is now cooperating with police.  Naples has 2 of the 80-85 in Long Beach.  However, the City expects 75% or more of them to close when it begins regulating and charging $25,000 permit fees.
  • Car Burglaries- 80% could be prevented by locking cars and removing cellphones, GPS’ and other portable electronic devices.
  • 2nd/PCH Project- The Developer and City Planners are discussing traffic mitigation measures during the ongoing 45 day public comment period.
  • Naples Seawalls- The committee meets on the 1st Thursday of every month at 4pm at the Long Beach Yacht Club.
  • Naples Fountain- City studied traffic and found that 1-way traffic would make things worse.
